Distiguishing Between Plus Size and Full Figure

Kris Fortuna Lace Underwire Bra B10FTBS Full Figure BrasThe primary difference between Plus Size Women and Full-Figure Women is primarily in the proportioning of the body. Where a diminutive woman with a 32-inch chest can be full-figured, she is not considered to be a plus size.

When it comes to bra sizes and bra fit, there are two aspects of a bra design that are of consequence. The first is the bandeau size, which relates directly to the measurement of the chest just beneath the breast tissue. Most women will be considered to have a bandeau measurement between 28" and 44" at the top end and not be considered as Plus Size. Women with the bandeau measurement in excess of 44" are generally considered Plus Size Women and typically, bras designed for Plus Sized women go up to a bandeau size of 58" although some manufacturers do produce larger sizes.

The other determining factor for bra fitting is the cup size which is not necessarily proportional to the bandeau. For example a woman with a 32" bandeau could have a cup size measuring a GG while a woman with a 56" bandeau might have a cup size of "A". Clearly everything is relative.
